Foundation of putting and proper fitting.

The fundamentals of putting are based on having a solid easy stroke and having equipment that fits and is technically sound. Solid fundamentals begin with the set-up.
With the correct set-up a natural stroke and sure shot follow.

There are some basic points for the putting stroke set-up and fitting:

Eyes over the ball (red line in drawing) – this allows seeing the putting line

Place your hips over your heels - this allows for a solid foundation

Let your arms drop down below your shoulders – this allows for the clock pendulum stroke

Now grip your present putter (you might be grabbing the steel shaft). Your set-up stance will tell you the length of putter fits you. Mark the spot on the grip just above your top hand. Measure from the base of the putter along the shaft to the mark on the grip as shown by the green line in the drawing. This is your putter head to hands length; we will add one half inch for comfort to this measurement. (Off-the-rack putters are 34 or 35 inches in length)

For example a measurement of 32 1/2 inches for the putter head to hands
length would become a 33 inch club finished. We will add 1/2 inch for
comfort.
